2009 – Are you creating, perfectly?
Jan 6th, 2009 | By Fiona | Category: Fiona's diaryAre you really creating a happy new year?
Many people are familiar with the phrase, ‘perfect love and perfect trust’.
If you want an average new year, you can wish and hope.
Successfully creating your new year requires perfect love and perfect trust.
Let’s start with the word ‘perfect’. Many people think that the word means ‘flawless’. That’s not an accurate definition. The words ‘thoroughly’ or ‘completely’ are better synonyms.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, ‘perfect’ comes from the Old English, parfit(e, which came from the Latin, parficere, meaning ‘to accomplish’.
The first definition in the Oxford Dictionary is ‘Thoroughly made, done, formed, carried out, accomplished…’
In addition, in the fourth definition, the Oxford Dictionary acknowledges that that ‘perfect’ is sometimes used to mean ‘faultless’.
However, the dictionary then points out that while ‘faultless’ means free from any imperfection, the word ‘perfect’ refers to a near approach to faultless, and can be used with degrees of comparison.
So, if we respect the ancient tradition of ‘perfect love and perfect trust’ in its most likely context, our love and trust may not be flawless, but it should be as thorough as possible.
Where does this fit with your happy new year?
Have you set your goals and committed to them with perfect love and perfect trust?
PERFECT LOVE
Let’s start with perfect love. Do you absolutely love your goals for the new year?
When you think about your goals, do you get excited about them because they’re your complete (perfect) dreams?
Or, are you settling for less because you figure those goals are the best that you can do?
Are you setting small goals because you don’t want to be disappointed? Because your time is spread too thin, and you don’t really have time for your long-term dreams?
If you must scale back at all, make your target for this year a specific, achievable step on the way to a goal that really excites you.
Targets can be small, but the goals must remain big.
The long-term goal must be something rich, juicy, and glorious, and it’s what you keep your eye on. That way, if you reach your new year’s target early, you don’t stop; you already know the next target (or action step) after it.
Don’t settle for lesser goals or a less-than life. Invest love — perfect love — in your goal and every step to reach it. That’s the only way you’ll get there.
After choosing a goal — or at least an achievable, exciting target for this year — then it’s time to invest perfect trust in it.
PERFECT TRUST
Once you’ve selected a goal and what you’ll do to achieve it, it’s time to check your sense of trust.
That is, do you really and truly believe that you can reach that goal and this year’s target?
If there’s an ounce of doubt, it can sabotage your best efforts.
If you have doubts, examine why you have them. For example, check your ‘deserve’ barometer… do you feel that you really deserve whatever-it-is, regardless of your past experiences? Maybe one of your lesser targets should be some self-esteem work, or ask Deity for help with that.
When you look at your target or goal, do you think, ‘I have no idea how I’ll actually do that’? Right now, list the steps that will get you there. Break them down as much as you need to, to feel that you can accomplish the next action step… and then the next, and so on.
Take it one step at a time. Keep your eye on your long-term goal, and be sure that it’s the goal that you really want.
Invest all of your energy in the next step. Create, create, create!
If doubts sneak in, banish them. If you can’t commit completely to your next step, stop to figure out why. Adjust as necessary.
The key to creating magic in your life is to apply perfect love and perfect trust.
Just remember that perfect means completely. It’s okay to make mistakes, as long as you’ve invested complete enthusiasm and confidence in your goals.
A happy new year is within your reach. Choose a year filled with activities that excite you, and increase your confidence in your long-term dreams.
