Help save lighthouses

lighthouse_in_hirsthalsThose of us who love New England regard lighthouses as one of our many valued assets. They connect us with history… and sometimes ghosts and fae energies of the coast.

If you shop at Shaw’s or Star Market anyway, here’s one way you can help save a magnificent lighthouse.  It’s described in a letter from Jeremy D’Entremont of the Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse.

Dear Friend of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse,

Here’s a fun new way to help us in our mission while you shop! We’ve enrolled in the Shaw’s Supermarkets’ Community Rewards program. Here’s how it works:

If you have a Shaw’s rewards card, go to www.shaws.com/communityrewards. Click where it says “Shoppers login or register with your Rewards Card first.” If you don’t have a Rewards Card, click here or visit the Service Desk of any Shaw’s or Star Market to get yours today.

Once you log in, you can choose a nonprofit organization to support by entering the ID number. The ID number for Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse is 49001021843. Supporters are required to register annually.

Once you’ve registered, when you shop at any Shaw’s (or Star Markets in Massachusetts) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (it MUST be on these days), Shaw’s will donate 1% of each supporter’s eligible Rewards Card purchases to us.

Certain items are excluded, including prescriptions, alcohol, tobacco, stamps, money orders, gift cards, lottery tickets, photo processing, and milk. Contributions apply to the total purchases afer discounts, coupons, and sales tax.

Let me know if you have any questions. I hope you’ll sign up soon!

Thank you,
Jeremy D’Entremont

Operations Manager, Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse
